Bob’s Big Timber Backyard Ultra–in our first five years has established itself as one of the top Backyard Ultra Events anywhere. Two of our previous winners and one assist made up 1/5 of Laz’s Team USA in 2020, plus our 2022 winner on Team USA last October. Our backyard event is truly a backyard event; the tree farm now has its 7th generation living on it. We didn’t incorporate the words “Big Timber” in our name for nothing. The large trees you will be running through on the day loop have been protected and cared for since the parcel was added to the family farm in 1889. This parcel represents one of the largest tracks of Old Growth Timber East of the Mississippi. The night loop will take you up a dirt road to the Home Farm. There you will run by the Pre Civil War log cabin, where 6 generations of our family have lived. You then you will continue by the old Bank Barn that once housed all the necessary livestock/grain needed for the self sufficient life style of generations past.
You will not be disappointed by the venue, or the hospitality. We pride ourselves in showcasing our conservation/stewardship practices of generations past, plus those that are ongoing today. Local, State, and National Awards/Recognition have been awarded to the family farm for its conservation/stewardship practices. As the old saying goes, “seeing is believing”. So don’t take my word for it. Come run on the farm and see for yourself what a love of land and a love of heritage can accomplish.
