when the race switches back to the trail?

it isnt an easy trail,

and some of the runners are no longer finishing road loops with a lot of time to spare.

going in to hour 47 the us has built up a 28 yard lead

and seem likely to extend that a little by 48 hours.

assuming australia keeps 10 on the course

that first trail loop is going to be something to watch keenly.

if australia is ever able to get a man or two up,

the race still has the potential to go a lot further.

the us has a good lead

but victory is far from a done deal.
