a flurry of drops and other activity interrupted the flow of updates.
as much as i enjoy the spectacle of the race,
the best part is the people;
all the people from all over the world…

for some number of days,
in my backyard,
playing (racing) as brothers and sisters.
i think that
for this short time
in this small place
we demonstrate the inherent good in people.
just as success in the race requires the runners to work together
being able to hold this race on our small farm
requires us all to cooperate.
and the backyard family never lets us down.

of course the best part is being able to offer people the opportunity to qualify and represent their country.
for an athlete there cannot be much more special than getting to represent your country in international competition.
to see the pride the athletes take in representing their country is very fulfilling.
