2 years down with Coalfields Backyard Ultra!
In honor of our heritage and culture of the region, we want to call the race the “Coalfields Backyard Ultra.” This down-and-back course starts and ends at our local community college.
West Virginia’s only backyard ultra. This bronze event is exciting for the path towards Big’s Backyard Ultra in 2026!
The winner of our race will compete outside Washington, DC, at the Silver race, Capitol Backyard Ultra in 2026. The Tug Valley Road Runners will pay our Bronze winner’s entry fee at Capital Backyard Ultra.
The winner of the Silver races will be placed on the National team to compete with the World at Big’s Backyard Ultra in October 2026!!
Join us this Memorial Day weekend, May 23, 2025, at 7pm start, in Williamson, WV, home of the Conquer the Wall 47hr and 35hr Endurance Challenge!! The race is located at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College, 1601 Co Hwy 52/27, Williamson, WV 25661
