We have kindly been permission by The Earl Sutherland to hold this BackYard Ultra in the beautiful grounds surrounding Dunrobin Castle which sits off of the A9 with Ben Bhraggie infront of it and the sea behind. The location is stunning.
We held our first Backyard Ultra on November 4th 2023 and a lot of fun was had by all, and some amazing achievements were made. Our winner was Mike Raffan on 29 loops with Craig Mcqueen on 28.
The winner of the 2024 Golspie Backyard Ultra was Kayleigh Webster with 31 loops and her Assist Vic Izzy Owens 30 loops.
You will run/walk/crawl through woodland paths, along a core path next to the sea and tarmac road in front of the castle. The course is undulating and spectacular even on a cold windy day.
The event is in November, you won’t be rewarded with warm sunshine, but you might get a beautiful crisp clear winters morning, lashing rain or even a splattering of snow. At all times you will have beautiful scenery to run in. This years race began with a beautiful sunrise, a treat of The Northern Lights at night and a stunning blue skied crisp Sunday on the finishing day. We were very lucky.
Cost of the race is £50 – supporting Highland and Island Blood Bikes
