The Lake Wanoka Backyard Ultra will test your endurance and benefit a good cause! The premise is simple. Can you run 4.166666 miles in ONE hour? And do it again and again and again….until you are the LAST RUNNER STANDING! The Lake Wanoka Backyard Ultra is an affiliated Backyard Ultra event. Backyard Ultra is a form of ultramarathon race where competitors must consecutively run the distance of 4.167 miles in less than one hour. When each lap is completed, the remaining time within the hour is typically used to recover for the next hour’s lap. The concept was created by Lazarus Lake (creator of the Barkley Marathons) and produces only one winner. All other runners receive a DNF.

SUPPORT A GOOD CAUSE: Proceeds from the event will benefit patients and residents at Allied Services, a non-profit health system that serves more than 5,000 people every day.
