This is the first official running of Port Moresby’s Backyard Ultra, after an unofficial event was held last year.
Port Moresby is well known for its poor security environment, so we’ll have to run laps inside a secured concrete-surfaced compound. We’ll start at 5pm to make the most of the cooler hours at night, but when the sun rises, it will be intense.
Average temperatures are around 32 degrees, with 80% humidity in the tropical heat and most of the course very exposed to the beating down sun.
Those chasing the big distances will certainly have to work for it on this course and in these conditions. That’s what Backyarders are for though, right?!
