Smurf’s Backyard Ultra, is set in Cairns, Far North Queensland, Australia.
Traversing 6.7km’s of the famous Smithfield Mountain Bike Trails (on the grounds of James Cook University), runners tackle a lap on the hour, every hour, until they can no longer continue!
The course itself runs along wide open dirt roads and single track rainforest mountain bike trail, including 90m of elevation. With the heat and humidity of Cairns in October, this is definitely one of Australia’s toughest backyard ultra’s!
