Welcome to the Pilbara’s only Backyard Ultra.
The name says it all really, after a few loops you will be covered in Red Dirt, but that’s half the fun of the Pilbara. Located in Karratha, the 6.71km loop starts and ends at the Balmoral Caravan Park which is very convenient for you and your support crew to be able to stay a few nights before and after the race and has a nice pool for the recovery.
In 2022 we had our first trial Backyard event that was capped at 12 hours and in 2023 we had another trial; this time was capped at 24 hours. Both were very successful and popular events on the Pilbara running calendar that we decided to go with an official, Last One Standing as of 2024.
2024 – We started with 89 runners and finished with Australian Backyard ultra royalty Phil Gore being awarded the last one standing after completing 33 loops, the assist was Jamie Oborne.
We look forward to going bigger and better again in 2025.
