big’s backyard ultra hour 10 underway:
the situation in the small countries category is changing by the hour,
bermuda is still clinging to a 1 point lead,
but the last hour saw two more onions go down.
now they only have 12.
mauritius might have caught bermuda with 14
but the scoring has them at (-1)
their 7 has no time entered for yard 9,
and the small countries are struggling with marking runners out of the race.
so probably mauritius has 13.
and really is one point behind
uruguay at (-2) definitely has 14 and could catch bermuda this hour.
namibia has 14,
they have been steadily making up for the early loss
and have gotten back in the chase at (-3)
and a wild card has emerged…
we finally made contact with zambia
to find out they still have 14 running
(and are filled with positive vibes)
they should be entering their data soon,
and who knows where they will be placed!
half the challenge for many of the small countries
is just getting their data entered.
they have no idea how much stress that is for us out here
when the competition is this tight!
the biggest news in the large countries is mexico’s early loss of their number 8.
they are now 9 points down on the leaders.
this is not insurmountable,
but it will take a superhuman effort tomorrow to start climbing back in the competition.
meanwhile,
in the mid-sized countries
things are starting to heat up
with only 5 teams still intact.
