The Summer version of the Longbridge 100 Winter BYU.
Beautiful but Brutal – Race Organiser 3WordRuns (co founder of The Green Runners) invites you to The Longbridge 100 Backyard Ultra which has been designed to incorporate the local history of the ‘yard’ whilst using re-developed farm buildings to create a bespoke backyard event. Longbridge is the ancient name given to the area by William the Conqueror when the land was sectioned off into 100’s. The current name for the area is Litlington. The race will take place on private hilly farmland tracks. We have a Winter and Summer option.
With its focus on the environment and sustainability, the Longbridge 100 has a mission of creating a ‘greener’ backyard. There will be an electric shuttle bus from the local train station for those runners and crew that want to catch the train and reduce their carbon travel emissions. We are also a single use plastic free event.
The race will be run as a typical Backyard Ultra, The winner will be the last man or woman standing who has completed 1 more yard than any other runner. The winner will take home a bespoke silver plated coin. All runners will receive a DNF coin with a bespoke engraved wooden box to store the tokens collected on each yard. *Backyard Ultra terms and conditions apply.
The race is limited to 70 runners who will ALL be based within one of the farmyard barns at the start/finish line. No need for tents or cars however there is parking available for those runners that want to use their car or camper as a base. With our focus on reducing runners travel carbon footprint we will be providing electric mini bus transfers from the local train station.
The yard is 623 feet of elevation so will be a real test of stamina. Those completing the 100 will have scaled just under 15,000 feet of ancient Sussex hills. *24 yards equates to running the South Downs Way 100 mile in 24 hours so a great opportunity to test yourself within a safe and continuous 4 mile loop.
Runners and crew will have access to ‘camp out’ in the farm barn buildings adjacent to the start and will all have access to food and drink from Cadence Cafe, toilets (within 50ft of the start), solar panel phone charging, and a covered rest area. Hot and Cold water will be available with a basic aid station with non wrapped food items.
