the us has taken what seems to be a commanding lead.
it isnt the margin,
it is the number of runners still active.
our team is really battered,
but no one will quit.
and i think the sight of us on the leaderboard
hour after hour with 14
then 13 runners
became discouraging to the other teams.
i dont think they realized the story behind the numbers
how beat up our guys were.
the team heroes so far have been our 13-14-15 runners,
still in the race on the 42nd hour.
sometimes the backyard comes down to how much you are willing to hurt.
you can win if you are willing to hurt more than anyone else..
our 13-14-15 runners were willing to pay the price.
